Convergence of max-min consensus algorithms

چکیده
In this paper, we propose a distributed max–min consensus algorithm for a discrete-time n-node system. Each node iteratively updates its state to a weighted average of its own state together with the minimum and maximum states of its neighbors. In order for carrying out this update, each node needs to know the positive direction of the state axis, as some additional information besides the relative states from the neighbors. Various necessary and/or sufficient conditions are established for the proposed max–min consensus algorithm under time-varying interaction graphs. These convergence conditions do not rely on the assumption on the positive lower bound of the arc weights. © 2015 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Convergence Complexity of Optimistic Rate-Based Flow-Control Algorithms
This paper studies basic properties of rate-based flow-control algorithms and of the max-min fairness criteria. For the algorithms we suggest a new approach for their modeling and analysis, which may be considered more ‘‘optimistic’’ and realistic than traditional approaches. Three variations of the approach are presented, and their rate of convergence to the optimal max-min fairness solution i...
متن کاملOn the Convergence of Rate Based Flow Control
Several issues in the design and analysis of rate based ow control algorithms are addressed in this paper. We suggest a new approach for rate based ow control algorithms which may be considered more \optimistic" than traditional approaches. Three variations of the approach are presented and their rate of convergence to an optimal max-min fairness solution is analyzed. Finally, we suggest and an...
متن کاملMax-consensus in a max-plus algebraic setting: The case of switching communication topologies
Because of their use for distributed decision making, consensus algorithms have attracted a lot of interest in recent years. Coordination between entities requires that they share information over a network, and develop a consistent view regarding objectives and relevant information on the environment, i.e., reach a consensus. In practice, communication topologies may change over time, either a...
متن کاملMax-Min averaging operator: fuzzy inequality systems and resolution
Minimum and maximum operators are two well-known t-norm and s-norm used frequently in fuzzy systems. In this paper, two different types of fuzzy inequalities are simultaneously studied where the convex combination of minimum and maximum operators is applied as the fuzzy relational composition. Some basic properties and theoretical aspects of the problem are derived and four necessary and suffi...
متن کاملDistributed algorithms for reaching consensus on general functions
This paper presents analysis and design results for distributed consensus algorithms in multi-agent networks. We consider continuous consensus functions of the initial state of the network agents. Under mild smoothness assumptions, we obtain necessary and sufficient conditions characterizing any algorithm that asymptotically achieves consensus. This characterization is the building block to obt...
